Tom MacFaul

Tom MacFaul’s research focusses on religion, the history of science and philosophy, gender and identity as these issues bear on English Renaissance literature, particularly poetry and drama. He has edited Tottel’s Miscellany for Penguin, and has published four monographs: Male Friendship in Shakespeare and his Contemporaries; Poetry and Paternity in Renaissance England; Problem Fathers in Shakespeare and Renaissance Drama; and Shakespeare and the Natural World. He has recently completed another book, Recognition and Embarrassment in Shakespeare’s Plays, and is working on two further books, one on the experience of space in English Romantic period writing, and another on care and decorum in Renaissance literature
